Jackson Generals edge Chattanooga Lookouts, 2-1

JACKSON, Tenn. -- The Jackson Generals edged the Chattanooga Lookouts 2-1 in Southern League baseball Thursday night.

Joseph Dunigan's leadoff home run to right field in the fourth inning broke a 1-1 tie and catapulted Jackson to its sixth win over Chattanooga this season in seven tries.

The Lookouts, who at 30-35 are assured of having a losing first half, had runners on second and first with two out in the ninth when Generals closer Carter Capps struck out Nick Buss.

Jackson took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Chris Pettit and Nick Franklin had leadoff doubles, and the Lookouts tied it in the third on Luis Nunez's two-out homer to left.

Game three of the five-game series is tonight at 8:05 EDT. Matt Magill (5-3, 4.10 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Lookouts, with Taijuan Walker (4-2, 3.04) scheduled for the Generals.

• All-Star Game: Chattanooga's Pedro Baez will play third base and bat seventh for the North Division in Tuesday night's Southern League All-Star Game, while Blake Smith will play right field and bat eighth. Relief pitchers Steven Ames and Red Patterson have been added to the North team, giving the Lookouts seven representatives.
