Jackson County, Ala., man charged in assault

A 21-year-old Jackson County man was charged Wednesday with assaulting a 53-year-old County Road 17 man on June 6, causing injuries that left the victim hospitalized for six days, authorities said.

Caleb Aaron Tidwell, of the Letcher community, is charged in the attack with assault, second degree, and was released from the Jackson County Jail on $2,500 bond, according to a Jackson County Sheriff's Office news release.

Tidwell is accused of striking the man "multiple times in the head and torso with a blunt object," the release states.
