Red Cross to set up shelters for tornado victims in Tennessee
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Forecasters have confirmed that deadly storms that struck in the central part of Tennessee were tornadoes.
Two people were killed in Cumberland County and one in DeKalb County when the storms hit just before dark on Wednesday evening.
A National Weather Service survey team looked at the damage Thursday morning and verified tornadoes struck in both places. The damage path in DeKalb County began near Smithville High School and disappeared into Center Hill Lake.
NWS meteorologists were continuing their survey to determine the strength of the tornadoes on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, which determines wind speed.
