University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior forward Whitney Hood was voted to the Southern Conference media’s All-SoCon women’s basketball first team, the league announced Thursday.
Hood was the only UTC player to make either the first or second team. Wednesday, the SoCon released the coaches’ postseason honors and Hood was joined by junior guard Kayla Christopher and sophomore forward Taylor Hall on the all-conference squad.
The media voted Appalachian State forward Anna Freeman the player of the year, and ASU’s Maryah Sydnor was the freshman of the year. Davidson’s Michele Savage was voted coach of the year.
The Lady Mocs (21-8) finished third in the regular season behind co-champions Appalachian and Davidson. The No. 3 seed in the SoCon tournament this weekend in Asheville, N.C., UTC will play Saturday night against sixth seed Furman or No. 11 UNC Greensboro.
