John Cain pitches no-hitter as Bryan earns sweep

John Cain pitched a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts and Shane Clawson went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and five RBIs as Bryan College finished a baseball doubleheader sweep Tuesday night with 12-0 win over visiting Hiwassee.

Tyler Latham was 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs and Colton Roberts and Tyler Carroll each scored twice for the Lions (17-6). They won the first game 6-5 with Billy Veal hitting a three-run homer in the six-run third inning and Josh Harris going 2-for-2.

Adam Sanders set a Bryan season record with his eighth save, preserving the win for Tyson Latham.

Love rewarded

Bryan's Amber Love was the Appalachian Athletic Conference softball pitcher of the week for her Feb. 26-March 3 performances that included three wins in 16 1/3 innings. The sophomore from Clarksville, Tenn., gave up only one earned run.

The Lady Lions are scheduled to play six games in the Gulf Shores (Ala.) Invitational this weekend.
