McMinn Central junior post Elizabeth Masengil was named Class AA Miss Basketball during the girls' state tournament finals Saturday at Middle Tennessee State University.
The 5-foot-11 Masengil is the school's first winner of the state award, and it comes one year after she earned state tournament MVP honors in leading the Chargerettes to their first state championship.
Masengil won the award over Creek Wood's Rachel Bell and Cannon County's Abbey Sissom.
A three-year starter for McMinn Central, Masengil averaged 24.3 points, 11.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 3.2 steals per game in leading the team back to the state tournament, where it lost in the quarterfinals.
