Lady Mocs lead Memphis at half

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team saw a big first-half lead disappear tonight against Memphis in the first round of the Women's NIT at Elma Roane Fieldhouse.

The Lady Mocs (22-9) led the Tigers by 16 points, 25-9, with less than 10 minutes to go before halftime. Memphis (24-7) then got going offensively and eventually cut UTC's lead to 29-27 1:45 to play in the half.

UTC then closed the half on an 8-2 run, taking a 37-29 lead into the break after a three-point play in the closing seconds by Memphis native Alex Black.

The Lady Mocs hit 45.7 percent of their first-half shots, compared to 34.4 percent for Memphis, while outrebounding the Tigers 23-19. Faith Dupree has eight points off the bench to lead the Lady Mocs, who have at least three points from seven players.

The winner of tonight's game will face the winner of Missouri-Kansas City at Missouri State.
