Tellico Plains High School athlete Storyie Miller has signed to run cross country and track for Lee University. She also has been a basketball standout for the Lady Bears and has been all-region three times in each of the three sports.

"Storyie is a very talented athlete who has mostly excelled in being an all-around track performer with times of 59.0 [seconds] in the 400 and 26.6 in the 200 meters," Lee coach Don Jayroe said in a school release. "She will be a great fit for our running program. Storyie will be especially targeting the 800 distance on the track. I believe she will run at the national level."

Miller said she also considered offers from Milligan and Lees-McRae.

Zorca to Pensacola

After one year of basketball at Hamilton Heights, formerly home-schooled Hixson resident Holly Zorca signed a letter-of-intent last week to continue her career at Pensacola Christian College.

"I liked the college anyway, and I really liked the girls in the basketball program and the coach," Zorca said.

She also talked to Covenant among others.

"She's a good player. We had been trying to get her to come to our school for a few years," Hamilton Heights coach Keisha Hunt said, noting that Zorca led the Lady Hawks with 51 percent field-goal shooting, 31 percent on 3-point shots and 82 percent on free throws. "The Pensacola coach said he expects her to get some playing time and contribute this year. She's a hard worker on and off the court. She shoots about 2,000 shots a week. I wish we had her more than one year."
