Location: In northern Hamilton County on Chickamauga Lake between Dallas Bay and the Sequoyah Nuclear Power Plant
Size: 1.7 square miles
Population: 1,826 in the 2010 census
Founded: In 1972, the city was incorporated from a subdivision with about 200 homes. It was expanded through annexations in the 1990s.
Government: Ken Wilkerson, chief of Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services, is mayor and chairs the five-member city commission.
Schools: Lakesite is near two schools: McConnell Elementary and Loftis Middle School.
Amenities: The city is negotiating to lease 12 acres of TVA land on Chickamauga Lake for a second municipal park. "We'd like to have some sort of a passive park that could be enjoyed for hiking, picnicking and those type of activities by residents and neighbors," Wilkerson said. "I'd like to see us in possession of the property by this summer, if possible, to really open this up as a recreational gateway for Lakesite." The city's first park, away from the lake, has a swimming pool, ballfields, picnic tables, basketball and tennis courts.
Unique fact: Among the 10 municipalities in Hamilton County, Lakesite has the lowest city property tax at 24 cents per $100 of assessed value.
