Georgia loses defensive lineman Derrick Lott

Georgia football coach Mark Richt announced Friday that redshirt junior defensive lineman Derrick Lott has decided to transfer.

The 6-foot-4, 303-pounder from Kennesaw has played sparingly the past two seasons, appearing in three games during the 2010 season and just two games last year. Lott has 10 career tackles, including 1.5 for lost yardage.

"Derrick and I met, and he believes he will have opportunities for more playing time elsewhere," Richt said. "We support him and will assist in any way possible during this process."

The Bulldogs practiced Friday for an hour and 15 minutes in preparation for this morning's first spring scrimmage.
