A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against Murray County Schools and a high school principal that claimed a student killed himself after he was bullied at school.

David and Tina Long filed the suit in 2010 claiming their 17-year-old son, Tyler, suffered years of bullying at school and on the school bus before he committed suicide on Oct. 17, 2009.

U.S. District Judge Harrold Murphy dismissed the case Monday afternoon, agreeing Tyler did suffer from severe bullying, but he wrote that there was not enough evidence to show deliberate indifference on the school's part.

Tina Long said that, even though the family lost the case, she feels vindicated because the judge acknowledged the school didn't take full responsibility.
