Walk n' Wag dog walk in Kimball, Tenn.

SOUTH PITTSBURG, Tenn. - The South Pittsburg High School Interact Club will present host a Walk n' Wag One-Mile Dog Walk on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Money raised from the dog walk, which is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. CDT at Kimball Park in Kimball, Tenn., will raise funds for Marion Animal Resource Connect.

MARC is a nonprofit organization that helps stray animals in Marion County through promoting adoption and assisting with vaccinations, medications, food and sterilization costs, officials said.

"MARC's goal is not only to help animals but also help people in the process," said Interact Club sponsor Mary Dawkins.

Recently, she said, the organization was able to aid a disabled woman in Jasper, Tenn., who was trying to care for 20 stray dogs with only her monthly disability check.

"MARC was able to find a home for 17 of the dogs, and they are currently working on getting the last three dogs adopted," Dawkins said.

The Walk n' Wag One-Mile Dog Walk will include Zumba for puppies, a silent auction and various contests and prizes for the participating dogs.

Registration for the dog walk is $5 per person, officials said, and adoptable dogs will be available to walk for a $5 donation.
