Dalton police are investigating the death of a woman who was shot in the head Sunday afternoon.
Otis Hammock, 47, told police that a handgun accidentally discharged as his wife was handing it to him in their home in the 1800 block of Shadow Lane in Dalton, according to a news release.
Tammie Elizabeth Hammock, 47, died at Hamilton Medical Center, the release stated.
No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation.
