At least two area agencies are accepting requests from the disabled for rides to the voting polls Tuesday.

Jim Queen with the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority said those with a disability who need transportation to vote can call his office today and make arrangements for a ride on Election Day.

The Caravan Division of CARTA will pick up disabled voters at their homes, take them to vote and return when called, he said. The authority may have to negotiate times for pickup but will accommodate riders with its 15-shuttle service. CARTA serves Chattanooga.

Those who live in the nine area counties -- Bledsoe, Bradley, Grundy Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Polk, Rhea and Sequatchie and outside Chattanooga in Hamilton County -- should call the Southeast Tennessee Human Resources Agency, Queen recommended.
