The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Tennessee are tied at 28 at the half tonight at McKenzie Arena. The Lady Mocs led the No. 20-ranked Lady Vols for much of the half, but Areil Massengale hit a long 3-pointer at the buzzer to tie the game.
Taylor Hall leads UTC with nine points and Meghan Downes has seven off the bench. Bashaara Graves leads the Lady Vols with nine and Massengale has seven.
This is the season opener for both teams, and UT coach Holly Warlick’s debut as the Lady Vols’ head coach. Former coach Pat Summitt, now the head coach emeritus, is at the game, sitting a few rows behind the UT bench.
It wasn’t a pretty half for UT, which had 17 turnovers, but the Lady Vols dominated the boards with a 25-12 rebounding advantage.
