A Hamilton County lawyer has been reprimanded by the Tennessee Supreme Court.
James W. Clements received a public censure from the court's Board of Professional Responsibility issued lawyer after he failed to reasonably serve a client, according to a news release.
The board said Clements met with a client in 2009 to discuss a possible claim against a nursing home, but failed to promptly have medical records reviewed by an expert, failed to respond to phone calls from the client and failed to provide information to the client regarding the statue of limitations, the release said.
A public censure is a rebuke and warning to the attorney, but it does not affect the attorney’s ability to practice law, according to the release.
