Tennessee Healthy Watershed Project grants to fund 9 clean water projects, 1 in Hamilton County

Nine watershed improvements and protection projects, including one in Hamilton County, have received funding from the Tennessee Healthy Watershed Project, according to a news release.

Normal Park Museum Magnet School in Chattanooga will receive $98,000 to fund the school's stormwater migration and watershed education. The Tennessee Healthy Watershed Project also will give $45,000 to the Land Trust of Tennessee for the Heart of the Hiwassee Initiative, which is working to preserve the Hiwassee River corridor.

In total, the Tennessee Healthy Watershed Project will give more than $750,000 to watershed projects in the state. Projects are expected to run from January 2013 to June 2014.

The Tennessee Healthy Watershed Project is a partnership among the state's department of environment and conservation, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Tennessee Chapter of the Nature Conservancy and the West Tennessee River Basin Authority.
