Santa's Village opens

Fall fun is giving way to thoughts of the holidays at Down on the Farm in Rainsville, Ala.

Starting Saturday, Nov. 24, Santa's Village will be open weekends through Dec. 16.

Families can have photos made with Santa, play the Elf-a-Bet game, sample sweet treats, compose letters for Santa, have their face painted, make ornaments and decorate a cookie or cupcake.

Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays, noon-4 p.m. Sundays (all times Central). Admission is $10, and photos cost $5 extra.

The Christmas tree farm, where families can choose and cut their own Frasier fir, or purchase one already cut, is open daily through Dec. 23. Live wreaths and garlands also are available, along with a Christmas gift shop. Tree and greenery prices vary.

Down on the Farm is at 2257 Heaton Road. From Chattanooga, take I-59 South to Fort Payne Exit 218. Turn right onto Highway 35 West to Rainsville. When you reach the Rainsville red light, travel 2.4 miles south on Highway 75 toward Fyffe. Turn left on Shiloh Ranch Road next to Shiloh Town Hall. Go 0.9 miles and turn left onto Heaton Road.
