Tuesday, Nov. 27, Detroit-born singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sufjan Stevens will play a sold-out yuletide sing-along concert at Track 29.
Stevens is perhaps best known for his States recording project, committing him to produce an album based on all 50 states.
To date, he has released two, 2003's "Greetings From Michigan: The Great Lakes State" and 2005's critical monster, "Sufjan Stevens Invites You To: Come on Feel the Illinoise."
Tuesday will mark the fifth stop of the current tour in celebration of Stevens' 58-track, eclectic Christmas album, "Silver and Gold" (released Nov. 13). True to his eccentric nature, the string of concerts goes by many titles, including the "Surfjohn Stevens Christmas Sing-Along Seasonal Affective Disorder Yuletide Disaster Pageant on Ice" and "The Sirfjam Stephanapolous Christmas Sing-Along Seasonal Affective Disorder Spectacular Music Pageant Variety Show Disaster."
Whatever its moniker -- or the spelling of the artist's name -- early reports about the monthlong tour indicate it would be at least partially participatory, with song literature passed out to the audience to be used during the titular sing-along segments.
