The deadline to adopt an angel in the Salvation Army Angel Tree program is Dec. 2.

Officials with the local chapter of the Salvation Army say there are still 2,161 angels needing adoption. Angels trees are located at Hamilton Place, Northgate and Bradley Square malls.

The Angel Tree provides Christmas assistance for needy children, their families and senior citizens who would not otherwise receive gifts, including necessities such as food and warm clothing.

Shoppers are asked to pick an angel from the tree and purchase items listed on its wish list for the individual named.
