A man was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and a count of reckless endangerment after SWAT and hostage negotiation teams were called out at 4406 James Lane Sunday night.
The Chattanooga Police Department said Y.C. Cothron, a 92-year-old black male, was charged.
Police officers had responded to the James Lane location to check on Cothron’s well-being, but had been met with several gunshots as they approached the house.
SWAT and hostage negotiation teams then came to the scene and, police said, a chemical agent was used after efforts failed to get Cothron to come out of the house.
Police said Cothron then surrendered, coming out of the residence unhurt.
