Children's safety fair at Kohl's

Kohl's and T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital at Erlanger's Safe and Sound Program are presenting a holiday safety fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Kohl's on Highway 153 in Hixson. Included are programs on bike and helmet safety, fire safety, car seat demonstrations, holiday hazard prevention, children's activities and more.


Medicare options

A team of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Medicare advocates will hold a community meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Country Inn and Suites, 5000 New Country Drive in Hixson, to help beneficiaries find out more about Medicare options available to them. Breast-feeding basics class

A breast-feeding class is set for 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesday at Erlanger East on Gunbarrel Road. Learn breast-feeding basics, what to expect during the first weeks and tips for success. Concerns about returning to work/school also will be discussed. The class is coordinated by a board-certified lactation consultant. Registration fee is $30. Pancreatic cancer

The Chattanooga Affiliate of Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Hospital's Community Room to discuss plans for the coming year and hear reports from PurpleStride Chattanooga 2012. For information, call Edith Snider at 240-5282.


Car seat safety checks

Free car seat safety checks are being held at Parkridge East campus from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 11. Come before or after your baby arrives. Conducted by Christy Smith of the Hamilton County Health Department. Meet in the parking lot between the hospital and the doctor's office building off Spring Creek Road, weather permitting. Memorial offerings

• Memorial Health Care System's Mobile Health Coach will provide mammogram screenings for women 40 and older, with or without insurance, who have not had a mammogram in the last 12 months. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, the coach will be at Piney Woods Family Resource Center at 702 Hooker Road.
