Reindeer roaming

Sunday, January 1, 1905

Though the scene lacks the frigid frostbite of the North Pole, live reindeer can be seen roaming the grounds at The Hilltop Christmas in Harrison, 8235 Highway 58. The attraction opens Friday, Nov. 30, and will be open every Friday and Saturday through Dec. 22. Hours are 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. (closed if raining).

According to TheHilltopChristmas.com, the adventure starts with a 10-minute hayride through thousands of twinkling lights to Santa's Toy Shop. There, visitors will see Santa and his herd of reindeer and elk.

Families can warm up by the bonfire, listen to Christmas music, decorate a gingerbread cookie (extra $4 charge) and have a photo made with Santa ($5).

Organizers say thousands of lights have been added for 2012, and more baby deer have been born.

Admission is $15 for ages 10 and up, $8 for children under 10. A portion of proceeds will go to the Christmas for Kids charity.
