Legion Post 159 honors U.S. Army veteran Sanders

U.S. Army veteran Amos J. Sanders of Palmer, Tenn., received a certificate of appreciation and an American flag posthumously from American Legion Post 159, which was accepted by his family.

Sanders was recognized for his military service during Vietnam from 1969-1970 with the Army's 9th Infantry Division.


Law enforcement recruits graduate

Twenty-four Basic Law Enforcement recruits graduated Nov. 28 from Georgia Northwestern Technical College.

Graduates were Jacob M. Abbott, Benjamin D. Baker, Christopher H. Barnes, Michael L. Battles, Charles J. Bray Jr., Erik M. Bush, Harley D. Elliott, Casey D. Ellis, Rickey L. Harris, II and Savannah K. Henslee.

Also graduating were Jeffery A. Keen Jr., Cody L. Lanier, Keith E. Lockwood, Ian D. Lowe, William T. Mabrey, Andrew R.C. Martin, Kenneth R. Martin II, Joshua S. McCurdy, Katheryn E. Payne, Coy J. Ricker, Garrett D. Saylors, Cody A. Shepherd, Billy W. Stone and Jose A. Ulibarri.


Cleveland Holly Ball debutantes announced

Three young women will be presented in the 50th annual Holly Ball on Dec. 28

The annual gala at the Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, Tenn., is sponsored by the Cleveland-Athens Cotillion.

Kelsey Holcombe Cantrell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hugh Cantrell.

Rachael Blair Jackson is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Stephen William Jackson.

Catherine Carter Jordan is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Mitchell Carter Jordan.

The three debutantes are graduates of Cleveland High School and attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
