Inman closed at underpass
CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Both lanes of Inman Street at the railroad underpass will be closed today through Friday.
City Public Works Director Tommy Myers said the lanes will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day to allow maintenance work to be done.
Motorists are asked to use the marked truck route as an alternate, the city manager's office said.
Ranger to speak on canyon fossils
FORT PAYNE, Ala. — Park Ranger Larry Beane with the Little River Canyon National Preserve Park will speak Oct. 13 on fossils that are found in the canyon, according to a news release.
The one-hour program will include a tabletop exhibit of fossils from in and near Little River Canyon, ranging from sea creatures to land plants, the release stated.
This free, family-friendly event is set for 10 a.m. CDT at the Little River Canyon Center on Highway 35.

Repaving set for Highway 225
CHATSWORTH, Ga. — Work could start soon on repaving state Highway 225 in Murray County, Ga., according to a news release from the Georgia Department of Transportation.
The state awarded a contract worth nearly $2.5 million last week, GDOT spokesman Mohamed Arafa said in the release.
The project includes 17.9 miles of resurfacing and shoulder repairs on SR 225 in Murray County, beginning north of SR 52 and extending to the Tennessee state line, the release stated.
Union probes series of arsons
KNOXVILLE — Authorities in Union County are searching for whoever set a series of six fires at homes and barns over the last six days in the county.
Gordon Sartain, chief of the Northeast Union Volunteer Fire Department, told WBIR-TV that the latest two fires were set in unoccupied barns on Saturday.
Victims to talk to parole board
VALDOSTA, Ga. — Georgia crime victims will have a chance to discuss the crimes and the offenders involved.
A victims visitors' day will be held Tuesday at the Lowndes County Judicial Complex in Valdosta. It is meant to provide crime victims and their families with information about the current status of the offenders. It will also give them an opportunity to register to receive future notifications about the status of offenders.
