A man whose body was found Monday on Montlake Mountain had been shot in the head, authorities say.

The remains were identified as Casey Burgiss, who has been missing since July, authorities said, and an arrest has been made. The body was found in a cave behind a home at 242 Layne Road, according to police.

Police arrested 19-year-old Keith Stewart in connection with Burgiss' death and charged him with criminal homicide, authorities said. Stewart told police he and two other men robbed Burgiss, who was shot several times, according to the arrest report.

Police said they talked to Stewart, who lives at 233 Layne Road in Soddy-Daisy, and the man took investigators to Burgiss' body.

Stewart is being held on a $750,000 bond. He has an Oct. 23 court date in Soddy-Daisy Municipal Court.

Burgiss was last seen July 21, police said. On July 29, his mother, Karen Crawley, filed a missing persons report, and his family launched a public campaign for help.

The investigation is continuing.
