Delayed trout fishing in Georgia to begin

ATLANTA - Anglers can soon enjoy the late trout harvest in North Georgia.

The Department of Natural Resources said some trout streams in the state are designated as delayed-harvest, which operate under special rules from Nov. 1 - May 14. Fish in those streams are stocked and available for catch-and-release fishing.

The streams have varying populations of rainbow, brown and brook trout.

The waterways operating under late-harvest rules include the Toccoa River in Fannin County, Amicalola Creek on the Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area, Smith Creek downstream of Unicoi Lake, the Chattahoochee River in Atlanta and part of the Chattooga River.
