GOOD FOR YOU: New Eagle Scouts

• Troop 30: Larston Bruce Baldree, son of Dr. Mitch Baldree and Dr. Marie Farrar, achieved his Eagle Scout award during a recent Court of Honor.

Baldree is a graduate of McCallie School and is a freshman at Tulane University. At McCallie, he was a member of the lacrosse team, captain of the climbing team, student instructor in the outdoor program, member of the classical guitar ensemble and consort, National Merit Society, Cum Laude Society and was named a National Merit Scholarship finalist. He is a member of First-Centenary United Methodist Church.

For the service project required of every Eagle Scout, he designed, raised money for and built a greenhouse/outdoor classroom for St. Nicholas School. The classroom was designed for use in hands-on outdoor-education programs and to extend the growing season for students.

• Troop 254: Jacob Marler, son of Perry and Tanya Marler, achieved Eagle Scout rank during a recent Court of Honor at Chamberlain Baptist Church. He is the 75th Scout to reach the Eagle rank from his troop at Tyner United Methodist Church.

Marler is a senior at East Hamilton High School.

For the Eagle Scout community service project, he volunteered 500 hours at Harrison Bay State Park, where he added two level camping areas for tents, a concrete fire ring and three handmade benches.
