A Florida man is being held on a $506,000 bond in the Coffee County Jail in Manchester, Tenn., after he was found driving a stolen tractor trailer and fled from Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers early this morning.

A trooper stopped Oreste Garcia, 51, of Orlando, Fla., at about 2:40 a.m. Friday as he drove the tractor trailer through the scales on Interstate 24 at Manchester. The trooper noticed a few suspicious signs and asked Garcia for the trailer's log book. Garcia went to retrieve the book, but instead ran into nearby woods.

The Manchester Police Department and the Coffee County Sheriff's department tracked and arrested Garciaabout a mile down the road.

The trailer had been reported stolen out of Jeffersonville, Ind., and was carrying 18 pallets of cell phones. Together, the cell phones and the tractor trailer are worth about $200,000, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

"Cargo theft is a growing concern in Tennessee and its surrounding states," THP Chattanooga District Captain David McGill said in a news release. "I'm proud of the work of our troopers that disrupted this crime, and grateful for our partnerships with local law enforcement authorities that assisted in the case."
