2 killed in Halloween party shooting in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Police in Clarksville say two people were shot and killed at a cabin during an early Halloween Party.

The Leaf-Chronicle reported that the shooting took place early Saturday morning at the dead end of High Point Road. Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy Ted Denny said two young adult men were killed.

Dozens of Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies, Clarksville Police officer and Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers responded to the shooting in progress call at about 1:50 am. More than 100 people were at the scene.

Denny said someone rented the farm and cabin in the woods just west of Clarksville near the Cumberland River and held a party for as many as 500 people. The party organizers had someone at the scene checking IDs. There were two prior complaints of underage drinking, but investigators found no other criminal activity, he said.

Hundreds were still there when the shooting occurred, and officers were trying to interview everyone who was at the party. They had some strong leads in the investigation, Denny said.
