A 47-year-old man wanted on an attempted murder charge after he reportedly fired a handgun when contractors came to pick up equipment at his home was arrested Monday night after a 10-hour manhunt.

Gerald Scott Rounsaville was located at the Cascades Motel in East Ridge by the Chattanooga Police Department's fugitive unit with help from the East Ridge SWAT team.

Rounsaville is accused of firing at least one shot Monday when the men came to his home at 7911 Igou Gap Road about 9:30 a.m.

A nearby Chattanooga Police Department officer, responding to another call, saw part of the incident. He said he saw two men fleeing from Rounsaville's property while another man turned and entered the home.

No one was injured, police said.

SWAT team and hostage negotiators were calledt, but a woman inside the home said Rounsaville was not there. Police searched the home and nearby wooded area without finding him.

The contractors were allowed to take their equipment after police secured the property.

A warrant was issued for Rounsaville's arrest on one count of attempted murder, police said. Court records show he has prior arrests on driving infractions and drug charges.
