Festivalgoers will soon find the leaves aren't all that's changing this fall.

There are notable deletions and additions to this season's circuit of fall festivals and craft shows.

The YMCA Christmas Market, a 36-year holiday gift mart, will not be held, nor will the Fall Color Cruise at Hale's Bar Marina.

Connie Farrar, Y Market volunteer chairman, cited the increasing difficulty in scheduling quality vendors as one of the reasons for its demise. Management at Hale's Bar said there remains a chance the Color Cruise could return in 2013, but the property just came under new management and did not have time to sufficiently prepare an event this season.

Chattanooga Market is taking over the production of the annual Holiday Hodgepodge on Signal Mountain in October. In fact, the Market is a major player in this season's festival schedule, producing not only Hodgepodge but Monday's Arts in the Park in Collegedale as well as three other events under the Chattanooga Market umbrella.

Chattanooga Market's Paul Smith said the group that produced Hodgepodge had dissolved and there was no one to coordinate the benefit for the Mountain Arts Community Center.

"This is the 40th anniversary of Hodgepodge," said Smith. "Being a Signal Mountain resident, I wanted to make sure the festival continues, and we (the market) have the means to do it. Chattanooga Market will produce the event, and it will still be a fundraiser for the MACC."

New to fall's calendar is the Cowpea Festival in Charleston, Tenn., on Sept. 15. Cowpea is Southern slang for black-eyed peas, field peas, crowder peas, etc. So festival organizers have secured Bush's Beans as a festival sponsor. Included in the music and merriment will be a Cowpea Cook-off.

Festivalgoers may notice a burgeoning number of church bazaars this season. These and many more outings for fall fun are included in the 79 events in today's Fall Festival Guide.
