After losing to the NAIA's first- and third-ranked volleyball teams Friday, the sixth-ranked host of the Lee University Showcase thumped No. 5 Embry-Riddle 25-12, 25-19, 25-20 on Saturday.

No. 1 Texas-Brownsville beat No. 3 Columbia (Mo.) 3-0 earlier in the day.

Junior Irene Ojukwu and freshman Nicole Sumida each had 13 kills for Lee (7-5), Ojukwu also with 17 digs, against Embry-Riddle. Marija Zelenovic had 11 kills and 12 digs, Paula Martins contributed 10 kills and three aces, Camil Martinez had 42 assists and nine digs and Libby Peigen made 16 digs for the Lady Flames.

• At Kennesaw, Ga., the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga lost 25-21, 12-25, 25-22, 25-11 to the host team in the Kennesaw State tournament but beat North Carolina Central 25-21, 25-20, 25-19 for the 5-6 Mocs' first win away from home this season.

Briana Reid and Lauren Gainer had 11 and nine kills and Bridget Camacho had 29 assists against KSU (7-3), while Paula Passmore had 17 digs and two aces. She had 21 digs and four aces against N.C. Central, when Christina Teter made 15 kills, Camacho had 25 assists and Sarah Batterton had two block solos.

• At Montgomery, Ala., Bryan lost 25-18, 18-25, 25-17, 18-25, 15-12 to Warner Southern and won 25-23, 25-20, 25-16 over Coastal Georgia in Faulkner's tournament.

Carolyn Evans had 17 kills and Chelsea Breaden and Meghan Lowry added eight each in the five-set loss, when Taylor Fink had 50 assists and 12 digs, Corrie Walker made 38 digs and Madison Akins served five aces. Kaylan Dilts and Makenzie Sindelar each had seven kills for Bryan (9-6). Breaden had eight kills and Evans and Fink added six each in the win, when Fink also had 25 assists and Walker made 12 digs.

• At LaGrange, Ga., Covenant improved to 5-2 by defeating Talladega 25-18, 29-27, 25-15 and then downing LaGrange 25-13, 25-14, 25-13 with Stephanie Kirkpatrick contributing 32 and 28 assists. Chelsea Van Dyk had 15 kills and Estes Carlson made 24 digs against Talladega; Cora Schroeder had 10 kills and five aces and Hannah Rogers had 10 digs and four block assists against the hosts.

Scots get 3-0 win

The Covenant College men's soccer team won for the first time in four 2012 matches Saturday in Danville, Ky., against Spalding, 3-0, as Tyler Morrison assisted on an Ian Meredith goal and scored himself in the first half and Chris Pifer added a penalty kick 11:32 into the second.

"We're feeling better about ourselves. We finally got something going on offense," Scots coach Nathan Pifer said after his team dominated in shots, 24-10, and Shuler Polk made three saves.

Friday night, Covenant lost 3-1 to Centre with Garrison Dale scoring unassisted at 68:24.

• Bryan 2, St. Andrews 1: At Laurinburg, N.C., the Lions won their Appalachian Athletic Conference opener against the league newcomer with Johannes Muller and Richard Kirk sandwiching goals around one by the hosts' Caio Liberatti. Bryan (2-1 overall) outshot the Knights 18-11.

• Campbellsville (w) 5, Bryan 0: At Dayton, Tenn., Cassie Yanelli had two goals and an assist and Jessica Ralph also scored two of the visitors' five first-half goals. They outshot the Lady Lions 24-4; Stephanie Gagnon made 10 saves in defeat.

• Methodist 3, Sewanee 1: At Fayetteville, N.C., Eric McGinnis had two goals and an assist as the hosts jumped ahead 3-0 in the first half. Samuel Edoung-Biyo scored in the second half for Sewanee (1-1), which was outshot 18-11.

• Bob Jones 7, Tennessee Temple 3: At Camp Jordan, the host Crusaders fell to 2-3 for the season.

• Bob Jones (w) 4, Tennessee Temple 1: Liz Adams scored from a Becca Whiteside assist for Temple (0-3-1).
