1 Rollins College, private school with 1,818 students in Winter Park, Fla. Tuition and fees total $39,000 a year.

2 Elon University, a private school with 5,225 students in Elon, N.C. Tuition and fees total $28,980.

3 Stetson University, a private school with 2,291 students in DeLand, Fla. Tuition and fees total $36,644

4 Samford University, the largest private university in Alabama with 2,950 students in Birmingham Ala. Tuition and fees total $25,150.

5 The Citadel, the military college of South Carolina in Charleston, with 2,477 students. In-state tuition and fees is $11,772.
