Councilwoman Sally Robinson said Tuesday she would not run for a fifth term in District 2.

The 71-year-old councilwoman said she is in the midst of trying to get her own real estate brokerage running.

"I'm probably the oldest entrepreneur in the city," she said. "I started a business three years ago and I need to get to work."

Robinson sent out a news release earlier revealing her decision. She said she wanted to announce as early as possible so potential candidates for the seat would have a chance to organize campaigns. Her district runs from North Chattanooga to the southern parts of Hixson.

The deadline for filing petitions is Dec. 20.

Voters elected Robinson into office in 2001.

She said in her news release her proudest accomplishments include helping with the completion of the 21st Century Waterfront, renewal of the Northshore, seeing Ashland Terrace and Hamill Road improvements and helping with the Moccasin Bend National Archaeological District.

The city's elections will be held March 2013.
