Chattanooga police investigate fourth shooting since Wednesday leaving 1 man dead

Emergency medical services remove the body of a man found shot to death early Saturday morning while a wrecker waits to remove his vehicle. A man was discovered shot to death in his vehicle at a gas station at the corner of Shallowford Road and North Moore Road early Saturday morning. The shooting was believed to have occurred elsewhere on Shallowford.

As light began to break, Chattanooga homicide investigators peered into a green Toyota Camry where the driver took his last breaths.

The driver, who was identified as Quincy Bell, missed striking a light post by just a couple of feet as he hit the curb. He never made it out of the vehicle.

Police believe he was shot in the 3800 block of Shallowford Road and managed to drive east about a quarter of a mile before pulling into the Kangaroo gas station, 4026 Shallowford Road.

As investigators collected evidence early this morning after receiving the call at 3:40 a.m., the car lights beamed, left turn signal flashed and engine continued to run. Hip hop music continued to blast. The driver's body slumped to the side.

The man's death marks the city's 17th homicide of the year.

It's the fourth shooting police have investigated this week.

On Wednesday, a Barry Bowman, 22, was shot in the head at 6317 Walden Ave. in a gang related shooting. He was taken to a hospital in a personal vehicle. He remains in critical condition.

On Friday, police investigated two shootings.

At 1:30 a.m. police investigated a shooting where two people were injured in the 2300 block of Crutchfield Street near Sandy's Mini Mart on Glass Street. James Jenkins, 25, was shot along with a 25-year-old witness. Both sustained non life threatening injuries.

At 3:30 p.m. police responded to another shooting at 5500 Old Mission Road in Brainerd after 20-year-old Antonio Jackson was shot. Police arrested a 15-year-old who now faces charges of attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Jackson was listed in stable condition.

It's unclear if any of the shootings are related.
