Pisgah man charged in truck theft

A Pisgah, Ala., man has been charged in connection with the July theft of a truck in Fort Payne.

At about 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jackson County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Marty May stopped a red 2007 GMC Canyon pickup on Highway 71 in Pisgah for displaying a switched license plate, a news release states.

The truck had been reported stolen in Fort Payne, sheriff's office spokesman Rocky Harnen said in the release.

The driver, Willie Edward Westmoreland, 48, of Pisgah, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property 1st degree, Harnen said.

Westmoreland is being held in the Jackson County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
