A half-day event at Chattanooga State Community College will offer information for veterans on education, small business development, housing and veterans services.

Sharyn Moreland, the director of the Tennessee Small Business Development Center at Chattanooga State, said there will be panels on each topic and speakers from state, local and federal government agencies to share information.

"We really want to show support for our veterans," Moreland said. "We want them to know the resources available to them; it's an education process."

The Mobile Vet Center will be on site from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Moreland said.

The mobile center gives counselors a way to reach out to veterans interested in counseling services or evaluations.

Yvonne Hubbard, a psychologist with the Chattanooga Vet Center, said such events offer a good opportunity to meet veterans face to face and provide education about treatment options. Programs are available for everything from post-traumatic stress disorder to sexual trauma, and the center also has services for family members who have lost soldiers in combat.

The mobile center first visited the campus during a Veterans Day outreach in 2010.

The keynote speaker today is B.B. Bell, a retired U.S. Army general and now a consultant for the Department of Defense.

Attendance is limited to the first 350 arrivals. Free parking is at the Center for Engineering, Technology, Arts and Sciences, the former Olan Mills Warehouse location.
