Missing man's body found in Franklin County

The body of an Alabama man who possibly was electrocuted by faulty wiring on a dock was found Thursday night after a brief search in Franklin County, Tenn., according to authorities there.

William A. Nolan, 39, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., was the victim, Franklin County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Chris Guess said in a prepared release.

Deputies spoke with the man's mother-in-law a little before 7 p.m. CDT Thursday. She said Nolan had been jogging and told her when he returned that he was going to go for a swim at the boat dock near the house, Guess said.

She looked for him before contacting authorities, who found Nolan's body under the dock, according to the release.

Guess said the house "had been struck by lightning in the recent past" and investigators found "faulty wiring from the house to the dock causing the dock to be live with electricity."
