Three local art galleries have scheduled opening events for April shows.

• In-Town Gallery: "Souvenirs: More Than Memories ... Inspiration," on view through April 27, will give visitors a glimpse of scenery from around the world.

The collection features photographs made by Spears McAllester during three weeks in Nepal and a new line of copper and silver jewelry by Barbara Murnan that includes accents from the seashore.

The opening reception is 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 5, at the gallery, 26 Frazier Ave. For more information, call 423-267-9214 or visit www.intowngallery.com.

• Reflections Gallery: The gallery at 6922 Lee Highway is celebrating its 25th anniversary with an exhibit of works by 24 members of the Tennessee Watercolor Society. The theme of the show is "Express Yourself." The opening reception will be 4-7 p.m. today, April 4. The exhibit will remain on view through May 10. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 423-892-3072 or visit www.reflections galleryTN.com.

• River Gallery: A meet-the-artists reception for "Following Form" is scheduled 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, April 5.

The monthlong exhibit features the works of Courtenay James of Tennessee, Mary-Ann Prack of North Carolina and Brad Schwieger of Ohio.

Gallery spokeswoman Angie Supan says these April artists "are passionately in tune with the intricate parts that make up the whole complex form."

Schwieger's altered, wheel-thrown, ceramic works explore various facets of utility and function as decorative objects.

James seeks to uncover the abstract details hidden in commonplace people and places by creating illusions of three-dimensional space formed by light and color.

Prack finds inspiration for her hand-built clay forms in sharply defined shapes and colors tensioned against sensuous organic form and surface.

The opening reception is free. River Gallery is at 400 E. Second St. in the Bluff View Art District. For more information, call 423-265-5033, ext. 5.
