Man survives 140-foot fall from cell tower in Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Authorities in Jefferson County say a man is alive after falling 140 feet from a cell tower.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Randy Christian tells WBRC-TV the accident happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Minor community. Christian says a rope caught the man 10 feet from the ground.

The man’s hand was severely damaged when it got caught in the rope, but he is expected to survive.

Minor police found the man on the ground. They say he slipped and fell while working at the top of the tower.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
