Girls Preparatory School junior Bailey Wood is one of 29 rowers selected for the 2013 USRowing Junior Women's Team High Performance Camp to be held in June at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. The camp program identifies high-potential rowers and "puts them in an environment where they can learn, grow and represent the USA in competitive domestic training and international racing opportunities," according to the invitation. Wood won the girls' 16-18 division of the Tennessee Indoor Rowing Championships in February at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. "This is an important step for consideration in rowing at the Junior World Championships in 2013-14," GPS coach Anders Swanson said in a school release. The camp can lead to the CanAmMex Regatta in Oklahoma City or the USRowing Club Nationals in Camden, N.J.

Baseball

• Cleveland State's Jeb Scoggins was chosen the TCCAA baseball pitcher of the week for his six-hitter in a 3-1 win last weekend over Motlow College. Scoggins, a former Cleveland High School standout who committed to Tennessee Tech, struck out five in improving his record to 4-2. The Cougars play a TCCAA series this weekend at Walters State.

Golf

• Emily Javadi from Chattanooga and Baylor School was named Wednesday the Southern Athletic Association women's golfer of the week for the second time in her freshman year. Javadi finished second by a stroke to DePauw's Paige Gooch with her 36-hole 154 last weekend at the Washington University Spring Invitational. Javadi's score was better than six individuals in the field ranked in the top 20 of NCAA Division III.

Track & Field

• Sewanee freshman Amiel Emerson from McMinnville was the SAA male track athlete of the week for his 800-meter victory last Saturday in the Birmingham-Southern Twilight Classic. He ran the distance in 2:00.04 and is ranked second for the event in the SAA performance list.
