Deborah UnderhillUnderhill death ruled a homicide
Deborah Underhill died by strangulation and blunt force injury of the chest and abdomen, according to a medical examiner's report, Chattanooga police said Thursday.
Her body was found in late March on the south bank of the Tennessee River. Underhill had last been seen March 28 at 9:30 a.m. at the AIM Center at 472 West M.L. King Blvd.
Earlier, police had said she had lived in the Red Bank and St. Elmo areas and was know to frequent downtown, specifically the Public Library. The investigation is continuing, but anyone with information is asked to call the Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525.
Drugs seized in speeding stop
James Seal has been arrested by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office after his vehicle was stopped in the 5400 block of Highway 58 as part of a speed check.
A news release said Deputy Greg Brown seized five bags that contained suspected cocaine, three bags with suspected marijuana, 301 pills, drug paraphernalia, cash and a sawed-off shot gun.
Seal was charged with possession of controlled substance for resale, possession of a prohibited weapon, drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
Seal was taken to the Hamilton County Jail where he was placed under a $40,000 bond. He has a May 10, 2013, court date, the release said.
