Tilly's to open store in Hamilton Place mall
Tilly's, which sells surf and skate clothing, shoes, accessories and more, will open near Hamilton Place mall in Chattanooga.
The 7,638-square-foot store will open this summer at The Terrace shopping center between Staples and Academy Sports. The new store will be the chain's second in Tennessee.
"We know that Tilly's will bring something fresh and new to the merchandise mix," said Dan Wolfe, general manager of Hamilton Place.
Tilly's opened its first store in Southern California in 1982 and has grown to 159 stores in over 20 states. Tilly's offers one of the largest assortments of brands and merchandise from the top players in the surf, skate, motocross and lifestyle apparel industries, according to the shopping center.
VW global sales boosted by U.S.
The Volkswagen Group delivered 2.27 million vehicles in the first quarter with U.S. sales helping to drive a 5.1 percent overall increase from a year ago, the German automaker reported Friday.
The company, which produces the midsize Passat in Chattanooga, said January-to-March sales in the United States grew 14.7 percent to 142,800 units compared with last year.
"Positive momentum was maintained in North America and China," Group board member for sales Christian Klingler said.
But, he said that almost all other regions, particularly Western Europe, remain affected by economic uncertainty and VW's March sales globally were flat.
