Groups in Chattanooga, Cleveland receive grants for teen programs

Organizations in Chattanooga and Cleveland, Tenn., have been given grants as part of the UnitedHealth Heroes program.

In Chattanooga, the James A. Henry YMCA, located on Sixth Street, was given $1,000 for Synergy, a teen health and wellness program. More than 100 students are in the program, which features workshops, a walking/running club and uses social media to reach teens.

In Cleveland, the Outdoor Adventure 4-H Club was given a $1,000 grant. Members of the club, who come from several Southeast Tennessee counties, clean park trails and map trails using GPS.

UnitedHealth Heroes is a wellness initiative developed by UnitedHealthcare and Youth Service America with a goal to fight childhood obesity.
