SAVE THE DATECricket & Snail will be featured in the Sewanee Symphony Orchestra's final concert of the season at 7:30 p.m. CDT Thursday, April 25, in Guerry Auditorium at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn.The orchestra, led by Joseph Lee, also will be joined by the Sewanee Chorale (directed by Gary Sturgis) and soloists including soprano Susan Rupert in Mozart's Coronation Mass in C Major, KV 317. James Carlson, who is a Sewanee professor, will offer the world premiere of his Cricket & Snail Concertina, a work for solo violin, solo accordion and orchestra.The program also will include Rismky-Korsakov's "Capriccio Espagnol."Admission is free.

Cricket & Snail, the Monteagle, Tenn.-based duo of Lucie Carlson (violin) and James Carlson (accordion) will present a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Unitarian Universalist Church of Chattanooga, 3224 Navajo Drive.

The husband-and-wife performers, who also will be featured in the church's Sunday service at 11 a.m., say they are fond of melodies that evoke street cafes, Celtic dances, Jewish weddings, opera scenes and sitting on the porch in the summer.

In addition to performing, the Carlsons compose or arrange most of their repertoire.
