HealthTap honors top local doctors

An online physician referral service, HealthTap, has named the top doctors for Chattanooga based upon physician and consumer surveys and feedback. Dr. Alfredo Nieves, a gynecologist, was recognized as the Most Influential Doctor in the Chattanooga region and Top Gynecologist in Tennessee. Dr. Lee Perry was awarded Top Allergist and Immunologist in Tennessee. Surgeon Dr. James White was awarded Top Doctor in the Chattanooga region and Top General Surgeon in Tennessee.


Google matches city's speed

Google will take over a troubled municipal fiber-optic system and make Provo, Utah, the third city to get its high-speed Internet service via fiber-optic cables. Google Fiber was rolled out in Kansas City, Mo., last year. The gigabit-per-second speed from Google will match the Internet offered by EPB Fiber throughout Chattanooga.


Omega Plastic adds 80 jobs

Omega Plastics officials announced Wednesday the company will expand its corporate headquarters in Clinton, Tenn., investing $8.2 million and adding 80 positions. A world leader in plastics extrusion molding solutions, Omega Plastics supplies a global client base in medical, consumer packaging, automotive, and security and safety productions. Stephen J. Redwine, Omega Plastics chief executive officer, said the company decided to add 85,000 square feet to its headquarters, in part, because "the quality and availability of a motivated labor force is exceptional."
