One person is dead and another is in stable condition after they were struck by a car as they were trying to cross the road last night, Chattanooga police said.

Police responded to the 2100 block of Bailey Avenue around 11:30 p.m.

The pedestrians have been identified as Andrew Svgdik and Kelsey Butler, according to a news release.

Svgdik passed away at the hospital and Butler is listed in stable condition, the release stated.

Traffic Investigators say the car was driven by Margaret Givens. Charges may be filed pending the outcome of the investigation, police said.
