Project: Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches
Owner: Ben Frizzell
Contractor: Frizzell Construction
Location: 5111 Hixson Pike, at Hixson Pike and Northpoint Boulevard
Cost for project: $1.2 million
Size: 1,732 square feet
Scope: This new, stand-alone Jimmy John's restaurant will include a drive-through and focus on the Hixson area. Frizzell tore down about 40 percent of the existing building and rebuilt the restaurant while keeping some of the key architectural elements. "We wanted to keep the ceiling because it had a lot of character," Frizzell said.
Timeline: Construction is on track to be finished in the next two months and the restaurant will open shortly after that. Frizzell has just started looking for assistant managers, who must complete a three-week training program.
Future: Frizzell is banking on Hixson's plans to widen the intersection at Hixson Pike and Northpoint Boulevard. He expects the intersection to become a major connector that can easily support a Jimmy John's, and said demographics in Hixson are perfect for the quick-service sandwich shop.
History: This is Frizzell's first Jimmy John's, but not his first restaurant. He's built myriad other hotels and fast-food chain restaurants throughout Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia.
