A news release from Hamilton County reports that people in some areas can't make 9-1-1 calls from their cell phones, but the problem is being addressed.

The release said the 9-1-1 Communications Center has been notified by emergency service personnel that people who live in parts of Red Bank, Mountain Creek Road and Signal Mountain may not be able to make a 9-1-1 call from their cell phone.

The release said it is thought that a Verizon cell tower isn't working properly and Verizon staffers are addressing the issue.

The 9-1-1 Communications Center said Verizon Wireless customers living in the affected areas may have to use a landline to make a 9-1-1 call.

The release said there was no time given for the problem to be resolved.
